Introduction to this Field Remedies blog

My name is Marion Mackonochie (aka Field Remedies) and I have decided to start this blog as a way to share new information and ideas that I come across about herbs, herbal medicine, and ways to live a healthier life. I’ll start with a bit of background info…

About herbal medicine

Combining up-to-date scientific knowledge and traditional herb use, herbal medicine has been used for centuries and is still the main form of healthcare for over 70% of the world’s population. With increasing numbers of clinical trials proving the efficacy of herbal medicine, more and more people are turning to this safe and natural form of healing as an alternative or adjunct when conventional medicine is not successful. The aim is to get to the root of health problems and effectively use good nutrition, lifestyle advice and herbal preparations to encourage the body to heal itself.

About me

I am a qualified Medical Herbalist and member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists practising in Brighton and the surrounding areas. With an interest in health and healing for many years, I completed a degree in pharmacology and physiology, in addition to spending seven years editing science journals for the pharmaceutical industry. With a growing disillusionment in conventional pharmaceuticals and positive personal experiences using herbal medicine, I decided to undertake a degree in herbal medicine, for which I obtained a first class qualification.

Knowledge and research into health and healing is constantly changing and evolving, which is why it is important to keep an open mind. I’m hoping to share my journey with you the reader and promote the benefits of herbs at the same timeImage.
